When I first started dating my husband he had this white hat with the Korean flag on it and I never really asked about it because he was Asian and didn’t tell me where in Asia his family came from, so I just assumed maybe he was Korean or liked Korea. But on our 3rd date we went to the movies and he wore his Korean hat to the movie theater.
As we walked up, a guy ran over to my husband and started speaking Korean to him. My husband got all excited and said, “Hell yeah! Up top, buddy!” Then they high fived.
The other guy then said, “I don’t see many other Koreans around here so it’s always nice to see one. Nice meeting you, brother.” Then he walked away.
Once he was gone, I said, “oh I didn’t know you were Korean.”
And my husband just laughed and said, “I’m Laos. I wear this because Koreans are so nice, but Laotian people are really mean to each other.” And like that still makes me laugh
